Statistics have shown that one out of every four women have been sexually assaulted an more than half of the assaults are committed by people who are not strangers to the victim. Even a petite woman can effectively address an attacker when they are taught to harness the power of Atemi-Ryu.

The Three A's of Safety
Acknowledge: Understand that you can become a target simply because you are a woman. However, the attacker can also be vulnerable at any given time. it is imperative that you recognize these openings and work them to your advantage. Carry yourself upright, stressing good posture. Look alert and focused.

Atemi: The self defense system of atemi-ryu is unique in that it incorporates karate, judo and jiujitsu. It is designed to strike vulnerable areas of the body, blending with the use of joint locks and pain compliance techniques which force the attacker to release their hold. The victim then uses a continuation of strikes to repel the attack.

Awareness: Know your surroundings and be aware of safety zones, such as police stations, post offices, banks, hospitals and friends' houses. Notice which
household articles might be used as a weapon of self defense. Notice the people around you — are they suspicious? Are you being followed?
